WMTC (World Motorcycle Test Cycle) L1e-B, L2e or L6e vehicles with EMEC test technology

From this year onwards, the type of approval from S-Pedelecs requires a new range test. The implementation of the WMTC (World Motorcycle Test Cycle) presents significant challenges for testing technology. EMEC-Prototyping registers already successful test runs with WMTC implemented in its test benches.

Starting from the 1st of January 2020, the test procedure for the energy efficiency changed from R200 to WMTC (World Motorcycle Test Cycle). Thus an adjustment of the test procedure has become necessary. All vehicles, fast Pedelec and Ebikes up to 45km/h, are based on the classes L1e-B, L2e or L6e. In contrast to Pedelecs with a limited maximum speed of 25km/h, at which the R200 test was introduced, the WMTC test presents major challenges for test technology. On the one hand, the test bench must have a high-performance class but also a very large control dynamic, since the test cycle includes frequent acceleration and deceleration/recuperation.

The EMEC prototyping chassis dynamometers were designed and developed for these application scenarios. All vehicles up to 45 km/h, according to the L Standard, can be tested. A highly dynamic servo system enables such roller test rig. You can, of course, run all tests according to EN15194, including the R200 test. The company develops products and test equipment for electromechanical systems and is particularly established in bicycle and eMobility sector. Its customers includes drive manufacturers and testing institutes. EMEC-Prototyping offers also severals support and services as well as field tests. Upcoming matters such as cargo systems solutions and IoT connectivity are already being integrated into new developments
