Brake Test Bench
Reliable Electromobility Thanks to Brake Test Bench
In times of electromobility, when the demand for sustainable and safe transportation solutions is constantly growing, the regular inspection and maintenance of brake systems plays an important role. Without careful checks, wear and potential defects in the brakes could go unnoticed, increasing the risk of serious accidents. A brake tester is therefore essential for a thorough and reliable inspection of both the service brake and, depending on the vehicle type, the parking brake.
What's Behind the Brake Test Bench
Testing the brakes is not only essential for road safety but is also required by law to ensure that all vehicles meet the necessary safety standards. These brake tests are made possible with the brake tester.
The main function of the brake test bench is to measure braking force and performance. Among other things, the braking distance, deceleration, and uniformity of the vehicle's braking effect are recorded. As part of HiL tests, physical stresses to which electric mobility vehicles are exposed in different environmental conditions can be simulated. This allows realistic scenarios to be simulated, with the tested braking system reacting to driving situations in real-time.
There are different types of brake testers, which are selected depending on the area of application and specific requirements. The roller brake tester is used most frequently, as it enables quick and precise measurements. This test bench simulates real-life conditions by positioning the vehicle on rollers and incorporating HiL tests. This allows a constant speed to be maintained, even when the vehicle is braked. This enables the braking performance to be determined precisely under controlled conditions. The computer-aided evaluation of the measurement results allows a detailed analysis of the braking force to be carried out.
In addition, modern our roller test bench offers the possibility to test regenerative braking systems of electric vehicles by measuring the energy recovered through braking. This is particularly important to optimize the efficiency of these systems and ensure that they work correctly with conventional mechanical brakes.
In addition to the roller test bench, there are also stationary test benches where the tested vehicle is positioned on plates.

EMEC's Brake Test Bench
At EMEC-Prototyping, innovation and precision are at the heart of our work, which is reflected in our customized brake test bench. Designed to meet the specific requirements of electric mobility, our test bench provides a reliable test environment for brake systems in both wet and dry conditions. This is particularly relevant as braking behavior in wet conditions may differ significantly from dry conditions. To precisely measure and analyze these differences, our test bench integrates advanced HiL tests that compare braking force and performance under simulated rain conditions versus dry conditions, for example.
The integration of the brake test bench into the EMEC modular system offers a high degree of adaptability and expandability. This modular concept allows us to tailor the test bench precisely to your needs and to react quickly to new test requirements if necessary. The flexibility of the EMEC modular system also means that the brake test stand is prepared not only for current but also for future technologies and standards in electromobility. Components and software modules can be easily added, replaced, or updated to adapt to rapidly evolving requirements. In addition, integration into the EMEC modular system supports a wide range of test scenarios, from standard brake tests to specialized tests for regenerative braking systems, which are becoming increasingly common in electric vehicles. This comprehensive test coverage allows developers and engineers to gain in-depth insights into the performance and safety of braking systems under a wide range of conditions.
With EMEC-Prototyping at your side, you can benefit from a long-term relationship that grows and evolves with your needs. With our brake test bench, your vehicles will not only remain state of the art, but will also be optimally equipped for future requirements.
